My only problem was that I found it difficult to park in the customer area when I came back last week to pick up some accessories I had ordered. Had to pull up against the entrance. Maybe you could keep plenty of spaces for customers? Things like that matter.

We needed a car to replace our Diesel car, that caught fire. After looking at several makes and options, my wife and I travelled a few miles north and visited your show room, last Saturday afternoon.

David Peddel smiled at us, as we entered. He offered us chairs and asked if we wanted coffee, tea or a cold drink - it was a very hot day.

No "Do you want a new or used car? Lease of 2 or 3 years?" but instead "Please tell me how I can help you today". He then listen to our needs and wishes - "A comfortable mid- to full-size car, not a SUV, not an Electric car, 4 door, not new, but single owner in excellent condition".

After 10 or so minutes he admitted, that he did not think Underwoods had a car that matched our requirement, but to make sure, he asked to be excused, while he checked if there was a vehicle available that had not yet been entered into the Computer System.

While we had our coffee and looked at the cars in the show room, David returned and asked us to follow him outside.

Having checked with the Service Department, he had found an Octavia SE-L and driven it to the front door. It had arrived earlier that day.

We sat in it, liked it, had a 10 mile test drive and returned for another coffee. When we said, we needed to think about it, David agreed and said he'd reserve the car for us, but would like an answer by Monday, so he could add it to the System.

We called him Monday and paid a deposit. David said he'd try his best to have all the tests and valeting done by the end of the week.

He kept us informed and we collected the car on the Friday.

The paperwork was done in 20 minutes, the car was ready, in show-room condition! David spent half an hour showing me the various Infotainment options, as well as transferring my iPhone data onto it.

Had the car for a week now - and loving it.

N.B. We also visited Underwoods' Kia and Mazda show rooms; again very professional staff.

Last Monday morning I arrived at your showroom with a very dodgy front tyre on my Fabia. I had manages to bring the car to you from the hospital, where my wife is having radiotherapy. The tyre had gone down while we were in the hospital, so I reinflated it and carefully drove to you.

Paul Hollidge got on to our case, and although you did not have a replacement tyre., he patiently asked around the tyre establishments in Colchester to find the right one for us. This took hime some time, during which he was unfailingly helpful, reassuring and efficient. Eventually he tracked down National Tyres, and fixed the damaged tyre so it would get us there.

My wife and I are immensely grateful to Paul for his support and professional help. Without this we would have been at a loss as to what to do, and he effectively solved the problem for us. We also received friendly support from other members of your staff. I have no doubt that when I buy my next Skoda (some time away, alas) I will certainly come to Underwoods.

We had been somewhat stymied by the new (very laudable) EU regulations about car emissions which meant that Glyn Hopkin Colchester could not provide us with a new car to replace our Qashqai at the end of our PCP deal. Unfortunately Glyn Hopkin (and Nissan Finance) did not seem concerned about this impasse. We had a very constructive discussion instead with Andy at Underwoods Mazda about a CX-5 but alas we missed the opportunity to grab the last available CX-5 processed under the old regulations. I went to various dealers and they all looked very glum about the situation and the prospect of finding a car to suit our needs by the end-date of our PCP agreement. Julian, Sales Manager at Underwoods Skoda, however, began with a positive approach and managed to pin down an excellent Karoq alternative to our Qashqai. It was clear that he had a real interest in the cars himself, and was also sensitive to our requirements. I was then taken through the PCP process by Tyler Young who was as kind and helpful as one could wish. We were kept informed all along the way about the progress of our car delivery to Colchester and then Tyler organised the pick-up date to coincide exactly with our return of the Qashqai to Nissan Finance. Tyler even came in on his day off to hand over the car to us and show us around everything. Since then, we've loved pretty much everything about the car and my wife says that she feels safer driving this car than any other car we've had. The safety features are excellent (but can take a little getting used to because they are trying to keep you safe) so we have learned to switch off the auto-engine-stop and 'soft handbrake' as we reverse back and forth without seatbelts into our narrow car-port. It is such a joy to be in the car. I have driven from Colchester to Chester and back and the whole journey was relaxing, with very good fuel economy (60 mpg), whereas three journeys in three different hire cars to Loughborough (Mercedes, Fiat and Ford) have been, to put it mildly, an effort by comparison. There's only one thing that I would perhaps like to see improved in the Karoq: a seat position that is not so sunken even on highest seat position so that the back of my thighs are not so pressured on a long journey (a cushion currently solves this). Other than that, an absolutely excellent vehicle. We've been back to Underwoods at Tyler's invitation in order to check that all is going well. He guided us through one or two of the excellent screen-controlled functions of the car that I'd not yet got my head round. All in all, it's a case of feeling that we were valued, that the car is excellent, and that we are very happy with the whole thing. Thank you Underwoods Skoda, Tyler and Julian (and a note of thanks also to Andy at Underwoods Mazda for also trying so hard to help us).

The SKODA parts section is a really dull tucked in the back out the way kind of deal, the staff are helpful though and always get the parts ordered up but frustratingly it seems to be a 2 day wait for parts on most occasions. My only other input is parking, I parked in the big car park and got moaned at by a rude lady member of staff saying it's allocated parking and I was in some bodies spot, the car park says private and permit holders but nothing to indicated allocated, I got told spaces without numbers are not allocated and funny that they happen to be at the end of the massive empty car park. If it wasn't for that car park there is nowhere to park to attend the dealership, I may not have a £30k brand new car but I use the parts dept to keep genuine parts on my old car so I am a customer at the end of the day, maybe staff should remember that sometimes.
