The idea is to inspire people to make their own kind of music - Paloma Faith

We like to celebrate people who show a Driven by Something Different attitude - independently minded people who are confident in their own skin and want to make a positive impact on the world around them. As part of this celebration, we are proud to launch the ŠKODA Driver’s Seat Initiative.

The initiative will be launched in partnership with the Prince’s Trust and Paloma Faith who herself was helped by the Trust when she was a teenager.

Our Mission
ŠKODA are looking for people aged 16-25 who show a Driven By Something Different attitude, have a passion for the arts and want to gain new skills to better themselves and their community. If selected, our young recruits will be invited to attend a 5 day ‘Get Started’ programme, in collaboration with the Prince’s Trust.

The 5-day course will equip our young recruits with the skills and confidence to go on to achieve their goals. Each course will culminate in a group activity to showcase what they have learned over the week and celebrate their achievements. In the 6 months following, our Driver’s Seat Initiative Champions will keep in touch with the participants, to help them achieve their ambitions.

Prince's Trust Case Studies

Below are case studies of two amazing individuals who, through each attending a Get Started project, turned their lives around.

Sharelle Scullion
Sharelle, 25, from Gateshead, lost her father when she was just three years-old. When she was four she moved in with her grandparents but suffered from mental and physical abuse at school. Fighting against her anxiety, Sharelle completed The Prince’s Trust programme feeling like a different person: lighter, happier and less anxious. She began volunteering at youth workshops with Live Theatre and used a Development Award from The Trust to enrol on a performing arts course.

Jordan Velinor
Finding it impossible to break in to the industry where he could use his talents and achieve his dreams, Jordan sought the help of The Prince’s Trust to go his own way, and in so doing make more opportunities in the future for other young people.

After struggling to get into a career in video production, Jordan found himself disheartened. Refusing to be defeated, Jordan decided he wanted to start his own media company, one that would help young people like him get into the media industry and gain experience. Jordan approached The Prince’s Trust who offered him the funding, support and business advice he needed to set up his enterprise and change his own future, and the future of many other young people looking for careers in media.
