What is an MOT test?
The Ministry of Transport (MOT) test is designed to check the safety and roadworthiness of your vehicle, ensuring it meets the minimum standard set out by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. The MOT is a legal requirement in the UK for all road vehicles over 3 years old.
When is my MOT test due?
A MOT pass certificate provided by Underwoods lasts for 12 months, it is against the law to drive your vehicle on the road without a valid MOT certificate.

We do encourage all our customers to think ahead when booking an MOT. You can have your MOT test one month in advance of its due date, giving ample time for any unexpected repairs mandated during the test to ensure a pass.
Types of MOT test
We provide MOT tests for the following vehicle types;
Class 4 – This is the most common category for cars with up to 12 passenger seats, 3-wheeled vehicles in excess of 450kgs, Taxis and Goods Vehicles (with maximum gross weight of 3,000kgs) and Caravans.
Class 7 – This is for commercial vans and motorhomes with maximum weight between 3,000 and 3,500kgs. Click here for more information about Class 7 MOT.
Free Vehicle Health Check
Every vehicle we MOT receives a free ‘Vehicle Health Check’. This comprises of 112 different check points which are analysed by our technicians. You will be provided with a report identifying any issues that may need immediate attention to ensure you are kept safely on the road.
