The Underwoods way has always been to provide quality cars at the right price.
All our used cars: include a minimum of 12 months warranty for your peace of mind, are thoroughly checked by our manufacturer trained technicians to ensure safety and reliability, are pre-prepared to a high standard including; exterior paint, interior materials and alloy wheels all receiving thorough detailing to remove any “imperfections” that other online dealers will leave the customer to deal with. We have strict standards so all our stock is carefully selected with low, or lower than average mileage and with just one or fewest previous owners as possible.
We stock a wide variety of makes and models, but as Authorised Repairers for Vauxhall, Ford, Skoda and Kia we hold greater stocks of these brands and you can rest assured they have been checked by an appropriate manufacturer trained technician. We have now also partnered with SPOTiCAR to bring even greater levels of quality. See below for more details about SPOTiCAR.

What is SPOTiCAR
Underwoods are proud to be selected as a SPOTiCAR Approved Used Car dealer.
SPOTiCAR is part of the global motoring giant Stellantis, owners of some of the worlds' most popular motoring brands including; Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat and many more.
SPOTiCAR is an approved used car programme, providing a comprehensive 12 months warranty with many additional benefits. All our SPOTiCAR vehicles are approved by the manufacturer ensuring that quality, reliability and safety are second to none. Alongside the minimum 12 months' warranty (which includes parts and labour), all our quality used cars come with 12 months' RAC Home Relay 24 hour Roadside Assistance (including European cover), additional 'Brakes, Battery and Clutch' cover, MOT test failure cover, vehicle history and mileage check, plus a comprehensive multi-point check by our manufacturer trained technicians.
All of this gives you the customer peace of mind to drive away safe in the knowledge you have bought a quality vehicle from a trustworthy supplier.
Garage Services
We provide Servicing, MOT testing (including Class 7) and repairs for all makes and models of passenger car and light commercial vehicle.
We have been authorised by some of the worlds leading motor manufacturers including; Vauxhall, Ford, Skoda and Kia to provide approved repairs including warranty support for their vehicles including electric cars. To ensure the highest level of competency, all of our technicians are continually trained to ensure they meet the standard required by the manufacturers and allow us to provide a specialist service for these brands. We are also certified to repair electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid vehicles.
Unlike many independent garages we also provide a Courtesy Loan Car* service and can provide ‘Collection & Deliveries’.
Whatever your motoring maintenance needs, Underwoods can help; batteries, brakes, bulbs, cambelts, clutches, exhausts, suspension, tyres, we can do it all. Need a part? Our Parts Department will be able to provide almost any replacement part for Vauxhall, Ford, Skoda or Kia, often within 24 hours (based on availability). Need a replacement key, we can help!
Technician Training
It shouldn’t be underestimated the specific training required by each manufacturer. Our Technicians are required to continually update their training certification to support the constant evolution of the modern combustion engine, including of course hybrid and electric vehicles.

Accident Repairs
If you have damaged your car in any way, our very own onsite Bodyshop can help. Whether the damage is serious, an annoying scratch, dent and chip that you would like smart repaired, or kerbed alloy needing rejuvenation, leave it with us.
We employ our own team of paint professionals, panel beaters (or body mechanics) and smart repair specialists, along with trusted alloy wheel experts.
Want to change the colour of your car? Not a problem! We have a professional paint oven onsite and the expertise to produce an exceptional bodywork finish.

Sell or trade your car to Underwoods
Looking to sell your car? Underwoods will provide a fair quotation for any vehicle of any make and model, age or condition.
There is no need to part exchange, just best prices paid. We will even settle any remaining finance for you.
All you need to do is drive along to one of our locations (by appointment) and our team will provide a full appraisal of your vehicle.
If you have any outstanding finance on the vehicle please bring along the details. Should you be happy with our offer we will make the process quick and simple.
Buy Online
Our website is designed for visitors to reserve our used cars online for just £99 in just a few simple steps. You can even purchase a vehicle completely online, either with finance or single payment. How simple is that!
Reservations are fully refundable and the vehicle is held for you for 48 hours. We ask all customer to visit their closest Underwoods dealership to ensure they are entirely satisfied with the quality of the vehicle before finalising their purchase.
The online finance process is straight forward and can be completed quickly with all the right information present.

We have three locations conveniently located in Clacton, Sudbury and Tiptree to serve the local community across Essex and Suffolk with vehicle Servicing, MOT testing, repairs and maintenance, quality used cars and bodyshop repairs.
Each location hold Authorised Repairer status as follows;
Clacton - Vauxhall, Ford, Skoda, Kia
Sudbury - Vauxhall, Skoda
Tiptree - Vauxhall, Ford
All our locations are set up to support all makes and models of vehicle, whether passenger cars or light good vehicles. Sudbury also provides Class 7 MOT testing for Light Good Vehicles.

We ensure all of our sales team are fully qualified and certified by the FCA to offer finance packages. They will focus on the needs of the customer and will find the right car for the right person.

*Courtesy car and Collection and Delivery Service require notice and are subject to availability. Not available for MOT only bookings. Courtesy car driver’s must be 21 years or over and a valid driving licence must be provided. All electric courtesy car usage will be charged at 15p per mile. All petrol courtesy cars must have fuel replaced to same level when returned. Charges apply. Exclusions may apply.
