Like all things, change is inevitable.

With major changes in the way that motor manufacturers wish to operate with their appointed dealer representation, Underwoods too must change.

Since 2nd May we have move away from representing car manufacturers as their appointed Main Dealer for New and Approved Used Cars. We are also sadly leaving our Colchester location, but you will be pleased to hear will continue as automotive dealers, but with new management and brands.

The New Underwoods Motoring

As always our focus is towards our customers, but we will do this from our three locations in Clacton, Sudbury and Tiptree. Each of these sites offering quality Used Cars and Garage Services.

We will continue to hold Authorised Repairer Status for Vauxhall, Ford, Skoda and Kia, allowing us to provide Warranty support for these brands, as well as day-to-day garage services including; Servicing, MOT (inc. Class 7) and Accident Repairs at our Bodyshop.

We are dedicated to providing the best service and continued support to all drivers we have supplied vehicles too.

The Future

We hope that the future remains positive for the motor trade. Like everyone, the industry has suffered during the global pandemic and financial conditions we all find ourselves in.

Industry Changes

For background there are several major changes in the Motor trade.

Firstly the "Agency Model". The Agency Model will allow the manufacturers to take greater control of the dealerships, minimising the "local" input of the appointed dealer. Dealerships will become showrooms solely for display and test drive, with the manufacturer providing all vehicles, enquiries and marketing support.

The second change is referred to as "Market Area". The manufacturers wish to see fewer Dealer Groups controlling a wider geographical area. Put simply, smaller independent dealers such as Underwoods are not part of the plan.

Finally the manufacturers are reducing in the total network of appointed dealerships with a greater focus toward son-line ales. This means there will be a need for fewer dealerships and less brand representation in your local area. Therefore some additional travel may be required by consumers.
